Volunteers are a vital part of the care and support we provide for grieving children and their families at Healing House. They are special, selfless people who willingly give their time and talents to provide support and compassion to children who are experiencing the most difficult period in their lives.
The groups at Healing House are conducted by volunteer facilitators who are trained to observe, listen and respond to children who are grieving. A facilitator is not a counselor, but serves as a caring companion in our support groups.
Facilitators must be at least 20 years of age and be willing to commit to two afternoons or evenings a month during the school year. Volunteer training is offered three times a year, usually during the Spring, Summer and Fall, and is conducted over a two- or three-day period.
